Description
We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Art and Arts & Crafts Teacher to join our team for the upcoming summer camp season. The Summer Camp Art Teacher will be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading art-related activities and projects for elementary school students attending our camp. The ideal candidate will have a passion for art, experience working with children, and the ability to foster creativity and self-expression in a fun and supportive environment.
Qualifications
Previous experience teaching art or working with children in a camp, school, or community setting preferred.
- Strong artistic skills and proficiency in a variety of art mediums and techniques suitable for elementary school students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect and engage with children of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Enthusiastic, patient, and able to inspire and motivate campers to explore their creativity and express themselves through art.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to changing situations in a fast-paced camp environment.
- Minimum age requirement of 18 years old.
- Background check may be required.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement age-appropriate art and craft projects for elementary school students attending the camp, incorporating a variety of mediums and techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, and more.
- Provide instruction, guidance, and demonstrations to campers on art concepts, techniques, and processes, while encouraging creativity, experimentation, and self-expression.
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where campers feel inspired, supported, and encouraged to explore their artistic abilities and interests.
- Plan and organize themed art activities and projects that align with camp themes, special events, and holidays, creating engaging and memorable experiences for campers.
- Prepare and set up art supplies, materials, and workstations for daily art activities, ensuring a safe and organized environment conducive to creative exploration.
- Assist campers in problem-solving, troubleshooting, and completing their art projects, offering constructive feedback, encouragement, and assistance as needed.
- Promote teamwork, collaboration, and respect among campers during art activities, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie.
- Collaborate with other camp staff to integrate art activities with other camp programs and initiatives, such as performances, exhibitions, and cultural celebrations.
- Maintain inventory of art supplies and materials, replenishing as needed and keeping track of expenses and budget allocations.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the art studio and storage areas, following proper safety protocols and procedures for handling art supplies and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and fellow staff members regarding art activities, schedules, and camper progress.
Schedule
This is a seasonal position that typically runs during the summer months, with opportunities for additional hours during school breaks and holidays. The Summer Camp Art and Arts & Crafts Teacher will work a full-time schedule, Monday through Friday 8am-4pm.
