Description
We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as General Camp Assistants for the upcoming summer camp season. Camp Assistants will support various camp activities, including sports, arts and crafts, outdoor adventures, and more, designed to create a fun and memorable experience for elementary school students. The ideal candidates will be energetic, responsible, and passionate about working with children in a dynamic camp environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children in a camp, school, or recreational setting preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect and engage with children of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Energetic, patient, and adaptable, with a positive attitude and a willingness to assist with a variety of camp activities and tasks.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow instructions from camp leadership and supervisory staff.
- Minimum age requirement of 16 years old.
- Background check may be required.
Responsibilities
- Assist camp counselors and activity specialists in implementing age-appropriate sports, arts, and recreational activities for elementary school students attending the camp.
- Support campers during sports activities, games, and tournaments by providing instruction, encouragement, and supervision as needed.
- Assist with setting up and organizing sports equipment, art supplies, and activity materials for daily sessions and special events.
- Engage and interact with campers in a positive and supportive manner, fostering a sense of belonging, inclusion, and friendship among participants.
- Supervise campers during transition times, meal breaks, and free play periods, ensuring safety and adherence to camp rules and procedures.
- Serve as a role model for campers by demonstrating sportsmanship, respect, and cooperation in all interactions and activities.
- Assist with the setup and cleanup of camp facilities, including classrooms, outdoor areas, and dining areas, maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment throughout the camp day.
- Participate actively in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to working with children in a camp setting.
- Collaborate with camp leadership, counselors, and fellow staff members to support the overall mission and goals of the camp, contributing ideas and feedback for program improvement and enhancement.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Camp Director or supervisory staff.
Schedule
This is a seasonal position that typically runs during the summer months, with opportunities for additional hours during school breaks and holidays. General Camp Assistant Teacher will work a Full-Time or Part Time schedule, Monday through Friday 8am-4pm.
